Our Vision
We envision a world where communities, cultures, and ecosystems are safe from climate risk.
Until then, we envision responses to climate displacement that:
Ensure all residents have the agency, peer support, time, and information they need to decide if, when and how they may need to relocate, and the opportunity for safe, welcoming homes and communities if they do.
Acknowledge and collectively address our shared past, entrenched beliefs that perpetuate injustice, and the realities of climate risk.
Center resources, funding, relationships, and evidence-based policy that enable local self-determination and fully account for the value of all human lifeways and nature, enabled by a just transition away from extractive practices and disaster capitalism.
Acknowledge the complexity of the relocation process and hold space for expressions of grief with joy, trauma with healing, slow with fast, past with future, and historic distrust with partnership and transparency.
Are bolstered by collective, stubborn optimism towards a shared future that strengthens community, culture, and agency.
Are aligned with and connected to reciprocal relations with people, the Earth and the lands we call home.
